Catherine B. Wrenn Scholarship

The scholarship, created to honor Dr. Cathy Wrenn, a political scientist, awards $500 to a senior student at the University of Colorado who is majoring in international affairs or political science with a sub-field concentration in international relations. The award is made in years when the endowment produces at least $500. The endowment now exceeds $10,000.

Dr. Wrenn was a co-founder and the second president of the United Nations Association of Boulder County.  She earned  her doctorate in political science at CU, with emphasis on international relations, and spent her career teaching at CU and assisting in the honors program.

Shortly before her death in 1998, Dr. Wrenn received a letter from a former student, Randy Welch, who, not knowing of her impending death, wanted to endow a scholarship at the University of Colorado in her name.

Money from the Randy Welch Fund, along with memorial gifts for Dr. Wrenn and later gifts secured by the UNA-Boulder Board, formed the endowment for the scholarship.
