Gene Bolles on the Geopolitical Aspects of Humanitarian Health Care Missions
Bill Kellogg UNA-BC Discussion Series was held on Tuesday April 16 at 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Boulder Creek Room of the Main Branch of the Boulder Public Library. Our featured speaker was Doctor of Neurosurgery Gene Bolles, who has served internationally on numerous humanitarian missions. Gene talked about these experiences and led a discussion on “Geopolitical Aspects of Humanitarian Health Care Missions.”
Gene has extensive experience in neurosurgery, including 32 years of private practice in Boulder, Chief of Neurosurgery at a military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany, and as Associate Professor at the CU Health Science Center. Of more immediate interest to our discussion series is Gene’s extensive service internationally, practicing neurosurgery in Northern Iraq (Kurdistan), North Korea, and Peking University (China). He has been recognized for his humanitarian service through several significant awards including the Humanitarian Award by the American Association of Neurological Surgery.
