International Committee

Our Mission:
To work with vulnerable populations and support refugees and immigrants locally and internationally while promoting and adhering to the mission and values of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The International Committee goals and strategies are to find gaps in services within our community and abroad where we can assist in promoting awareness, equity, and human rights advocacy, while providing increased access to vital resources.
Recently, we were successful in sponsoring a refugee family from Afghanistan where we connected them to resources, provided food, and clothing. This allowed for the family to feel relief from the stress of navigating a new culture, societal norms, and the legal system, while having a language barrier. We were also able to connect the family to resources where they can continue to find support.
Upcoming events will be a fundraiser for the Kellerman Foundation to increase the availability of medical services in Botswana. As well as a free human trafficking training event for the community, UNA-BC members, volunteers, and board members to help raise awareness of what human trafficking is and what it entails. The international committee is also hosting a film screening of the film Shadow Games in April and an Immigration Clinic scheduled for summer 2024.
