Our Mission:
To advocate for policies and legislation that align with the principles of the United Nations Association of Boulder County Chapter (UNA-BC) and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations.
We are dedicated to promoting human rights, social justice, and sustainable development through strategic advocacy efforts at the local, state, and national levels. By engaging with policymakers, community leaders, and stakeholders, we strive to influence positive change and advance the UN's mission of creating a more equitable and sustainable world.
Goals and Strategies:
The Policy Committee is actively involved in advocating for policies that address pressing global challenges and contribute to the achievement of the SDGs. One of our primary strategies is to participate in lobbying activities, such as Lobby Day at the state capital, where we advocate for legislation that promotes human rights, environmental sustainability, and social justice. Through targeted advocacy efforts, we aim to raise awareness among lawmakers and garner support for bills that align with the values and objectives of UNA-BC.
In addition to lobbying, we work to promote legislation that supports the rights and empowerment of women, in line with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). By collaborating with local and state policymakers, we advocate for the adoption and implementation of policies that address gender inequality and promote women's rights in our community and beyond.
Our committee also utilizes our website as a platform to inform members and the public about relevant legislation, advocacy initiatives, and opportunities for civic engagement. Visitors to our website can find information on bills supported by UNA-BC, updates on advocacy campaigns, and resources for getting involved in policy advocacy efforts.
Furthermore, we actively engage with other advocacy organizations and coalitions to amplify our impact and advance shared policy goals. By building partnerships and collaborating with like-minded organizations, we leverage collective expertise and resources to advocate for meaningful policy change and promote a more just and sustainable future.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability, we regularly update our members and the community on our advocacy priorities, activities, and outcomes. Through newsletters, social media updates, and public forums, we seek to foster informed and engaged participation in policy advocacy efforts and promote a culture of civic activism within our community.
